I am the proud parent of two beautiful children Nyah Mae Swanson aged 8 and Kai Bodhi Swanson aged 6. Nyah is a third grader at the Meriwether Lewis elementary school and Kai is in 1st grade at the same school. I am an avid bicyclist, I have come in 2nd in the commuter challenge 6 years in a row (for the Library), and finally won this year (library). I an a big supporter of local, sustainably harvested food. I keep up on the latest trends in International, national, state, and local politics, environmental news, and several social justice struggles such as fair trade (not free trade), the genocide in the Congo, the modern slave trade, international labor rights suppression, and the unlawful regime change in democratic nations. I grew up just outside of Flint, Michigan and have been living in Oregon for 12 years.
